Variety reports that Chris Pane, who played captain Kirk in the latest Star Trek film, has signed to play Jack Ryan in the next installment of the series.
He takes over the role that has been previously played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck.
A script for the new film is still been worked out, and a release date wasn’t announced.

Universal Pictures has sent us some new pictures from their upcoming movie, Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant!.
You can see them below. The cast includes John C. Reilly, Ken Watanabe, Josh Hutcherson, Chris Massoglia, Ray Stevenson, Patrick Fugit, Orlando Jones, Willem Dafoe and Salma Hayek. It is scheduled for release October 23, 2009.
